The Apocalyptic Woman

A woman appears, radiant as the sun, with the moon beneath her feet and a crown of twelve stars upon her head: she is the apocalyptic woman, a symbol of purity and salvation. The dragon with seven heads and a long tail that sweeps the stars from the sky attempts to seize her newborn child, but angels intervene and carry him to safety, before God. The monster then turns against the woman, seeking to overwhelm her by spewing a river from its mouth. She manages to escape by flying on eagle’s wings, and the water disappears into a chasm opened in the earth.
